I use this box to watch a 720p movie about once a week. When I'm not using it for that, I use it to play slacker internet radio through my receiver. For me the only thing it's lacking is DVR but if you want that you really have to switch to MythTV, and in my opinion, XBMC provides a way nicer user interface than MythTV. Mine does seem to get a little warm if I watch a 3 hour movie on it but not so hot that it makes me uncomfortable.
